About OPIQ
Beginning in February 2020, Optimizing Performance by Improving Quality (OPIQ) in HIV and HIV/TB Programs in the Republic of South Africa under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is a continuation of previous CDC and DOH efforts to improve HIV/TB care at the clinical level and scale high-impact interventions.
UCSF, including HEALTHQUAL, seeks to address performance gaps with DOH and District Support Partners (DSPs) by providing technical assistance in innovative, evidence-based QI methodologies to foster a healthcare Learning System. The Learning System will draw on available data to rapidly develop, test, and implement change via a model that centers on National and Provincial Learning Networks and district-level QI Collaboratives (QIC) in the focus provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, North West, and Gauteng. Providing mentorship and QI coaching, the OPIQ Consortium will support DSPs and DOH to meet their care and treatment targets and in doing so, extend the provision of lifesaving services to people in need.
